Helsinki Loves Developers
The benefits of open data cannot be realised unless the data is put into use. Cities of Helsinki Metropolitan Area provide an increasing amount of public data as open data. These cities are also engaging in open dialogue with the community in order to harness the potential of open data.
Helsinki Loves Developers, Hel<3Dev, is one great concept to enhance open dialogue and developer cooperation. The idea of Hel<3Dev is to provide an open platform and meetups for discussion and co-creation. Another platform is the Helsinki <3 Developers web site that provides technical documentation and details about open APIs for re-use, contributions and discussions. The Hel<3Dev concept was created by the City of Helsinki and Forum Virium Helsinki in 2012.
The open data advocates of City of Helsinki organize regular Open Data Open Office meetings in the heart of Helsinki. Anyone who is interested in participating is warmly welcome to join these meetings. Together we can create smarter cities to live and work in! Some of the meetings have no specific agenda but quite often there are interesting themes with expert presentations and demos. Also, meetings without specific topics offer great opportunities to learn more about open data or to explore and strengthen your own needs or ideas regarding open data.
Open Data Open Offices take place at Laituri (Narinkka 2, Helsinki) once a month. More information in Facebook group Helsinki Loves Developers. Welcome!
